Tough Love! Man Gets 15-Year Sentence For Having Sex With His Dog

One guy took the phrase “man’s best friend” too seriously. Kurtis Peter Peterson (yes, that’s his real name) of Michigan was sentenced between one to fifteen years in the slammer for having sex with his pit bull. Now, the sentence may sound harsh, but this isn’t Peterson’s first offense. In fact, this man-dog-sex fiasco began last year.

The first reported incident happened in April 2012 at Peterson’s apartment in the 200 block of Amity Avenue. A witness testified at Peterson’s preliminary hearing that she and a friend saw him kneeling naked behind his blue heeler on his bed, having sex with the dog. She said she called 911, but no arrest was made at that time.

The witness said later, in early June, she walked in on a naked Peterson seemingly having sex with a white pit bull on the floor of his living room. Again she called police and his arrest followed within days.

According to the court record, Peterson has prior convictions of attempted fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1996 in Allegan County and, in 2010, carrying a concealed weapon and false report of a felony in Muskegon County.

Peterson was also legally sane during his sexual trysts with man’s four-legged friend, and is competent to stand trial. This was verified by both attorneys in this case.

Peterson has already spent 321 days in jail.

A sentence to the Michigan Department of Corrections – even though Peterson will be eligible for his first parole consideration soon – makes it likelier he’ll be kept in a controlled setting, which 14th Circuit Judge Timothy G. Hicks considers essential.

“Community supervision would be a struggle at this time,” Hicks said. He said pre-sentence investigators believe Peterson carries a high risk of re-offending if left unsupervised. “I fear for what he might do in the community,” the judge said.

In any time, place, or universe, it’s just wrong to have sex with animals.

Was that sentence in people years or dog years?
