VIDEO: Cool ‘Chandeliering’ Ice in Medicine Lake, Minnesota

We’ve shown you the best snow forts from the last winter. We brought you snow sculptures, and cats freaking out about snow.

But have you ever seen chandeliering ice?

No. No you have not.

Nadalie Thomas and her kids were playing near Medicine Lake, Minnesota, when they heard and saw the phenomenon. According to meteorologist Jerrid Sebasta:

the remaining ice is very brittle due to the sun and warm temps, and at some point it reaches the state where ice first crystalizes.

The ice then splinters, creating a racket in the process.

Obviously.
