Ann Coulter to Endorse Curtis Bostic in SC-1 Runoff; UPDATE: ‘Any Idiot Who Votes for Sanford … Is Working for the Obama Administration’

This is a logical enough development, given her column last week slamming former Gov. Mark Sanford, but now it is reported that conservative columnist Ann Coulter will officially endorse Curtis Bostic in next Tuesday’s Republican runoff for the special congressional election in South Carolina’s 1st District.

Bostic also gained support Tuesday from the popular conservative blog Legal Insurrection, where Anne Sorock wrote: “Our position on Sanford? Just say No.”

A Marine Corps veteran of Operation Desert Storm and former Charleston County council member, Bostic was endorsed Tuesday by former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum. Sanford, who was censured by the state legislature for ethics violations, got 37 percent of the vote in the March 19 primary for the GOP nomination in the special election to fill the House seat vacated by the appointment of Tim Scott to the Senate. South Carolina law requires a runoff if no candidate gets a majority. Bostic was second in the primary with 13 percent of the vote in a 16-candidate field. The winner of next week’s runoff will face Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Bush, sister of cable-TV comedian Stephen Colbert, in the May 7 special election.

UPDATE: She has posted the endorsement at her AnnCoulter.com site, calling Bostic “a dream candidate for the GOP in any congressional district,” and adding:

Any idiot who votes for Sanford in the runoff is working for the Obama administration.
Vote for Curtis Bostic in the GOP runoff election on April 2.
