Huckabee Predicts Benghazi Scandal Will Force President Obama Out of the White House

Stepping back into his former profession as an Evangelical preacher, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee prophesied Monday that the Benghazi controversy would lead to President Obama’s resignation or impeachment. “I believe that before it’s all over, this president will not fill out his full term, ” Huckabee said on his radio program “The Mike Huckabee Show,” on the same day he announced it may be ending after only one year.

Huckabee, who ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination 2008, hedged his prediction by saying it could only come true if Republicans retook Congress.  “If they’re [Democrats] able to get control of the House and maintain the Senate, this will not happen because they won’t let it happen. And they won’t let it happen not because they’re protecting just the president,” he explained. “They’re trying to protect their entire political party. If they try to protect the president and their party, and do so at the expense of the truth, their president and their party will go down.” The prediction came just two days before House Republicans were slated to hold another hearing on Benghazi, this time featuring testimony from witnesses deemed “whistle-blowers.”

Huckabee also compared the Benghazi controversy to Watergate,  and claimed, “When a president lies to the American people and is part of a cover-up, he cannot continue to govern.”

Huckabee served as Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, and was a Southern baptists preacher before that, and president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention from 1981 to 1991.
