Derp! Germany Scores Own Goal to Help USA Win Soccer Game

Apparently in soccer “these things happen”, but not usually like this. During USA‘s victory over the Germany MNT on Sunday, the Americans got some unexpected help from the German goalie.

Watch as the goalie takes a pass from his teammate and then proceeds to completely forget about Newton’s first law as the ball rolls past him in to the goal.

There aren’t too many explanations for something like that. It could have been that he wanted to pad his fullback’s stats with an easy goal, or maybe he’s just more used to using his hands. Maybe he didn’t realize his telekinesis was on the fritz and he couldn’t stop the ball with his brain.

At least we were spared the typical ridiculously awful goal celebration.

Soccer would be infinitely more watchable if celebrations were more like this.

You know it’s true.
