British Police Arrest Two Men on Diverted Pakistan Flight

A Pakistan International Airlines flight bound for Manchester from Lahore, Pakistan was diverted by UK fighter jets Friday after two men onboard were suspected of endangering the aircraft.

The plane was escorted to Stansted in Essex, southern England, where the two men were arrested and the remaining 300 passengers disembarked.

Mashood Tajwar, a PIA spokesman, told CNN that Flight PK709 from Lahore was 20 minutes away from Manchester and preparing to land when air traffic controllers received reports of a “terror threat.”

The incident has further shaken the UK just days after a British soldier was brutally murdered on the London streets in what may prove to be a terror attack.
