Bombing Suspects’ Sister and Uncles Speak Out

In an interview with reporters from the NJ Star-Ledger Alina Tsarnaeva, sister of suspected Boston Marathon bombers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, said she’s shocked. “I’m hurt. I’m sorry for the families who lost loved ones, the same way I lost a loved one.” She went on to say of her brother Tamerlan, who was killed in a shootout with authorities yesterday, “He was a great person and that’s all I know. He was a kind and loving man and I never would have expected this from him.”

Peter Wilson, the Managing Editor at CBS affiliate WBZ in Boston, spoke exclusively with Ruslan Tsarni, one of two Uncles to speak publicly on the matter. He said of the bombing that he “is devastated” and that it’s “not comprehendable in our family.” When asked to describe Tamerlan he called him “a loser.”

A second uncle, Alvi Tsarni also gave an interview saying that Tamerlan had called him Thursday. “Yesterday he called me and said ‘forgive me’,” Alvi explained, adding, “I can’t believe this. It’s not possible. My nephews can’t do like this stuff. No way.”
