#MarchMadness: Nail-biter as LaSalle Edges Ole Miss for Sweet 16 Birth

The LaSalle Explorers’ junior guard Tyrone Garland finessed a layup with 2 seconds remaining to seal a victory against Ole Miss last night.

“Time was running out, and I felt like I could get the drive,” said Garland. “When I cut, I just saw an opening and took the ball up.”

Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy praised the winners post-game saying,”I’ve always said that winning teams make winning plays, and to La Salle’s credit, they made the winning plays down the stretch…We couldn’t contain them off the dribble. We couldn’t contain them even in a zone.”

In one of the more competitive games in the round of 32, the match-up featured 11 lead changes.  No. 12 Ole Miss led 74-72 with less than 2 minutes remaining, but could not seal the deal - failing to reach the regional semis for the first time since 2001.
