#MarchMadness: Close call helps Miami advance to Sweet 16

Let the instant replay debate begin!

A controversial call with less than a minute left allowed Miami to sneak past Illinois for their first Sweet 16 birth since 2000.

After Shane Larkin sank a fallaway three-pointer with 59.9 seconds left, Illinois Guard D.J. Richardson attempted one of his own.  The ball bounced off the rim and Miami’s Kenny Kadji appeared to bat it out of bounds.

In a case of “Are you watching the same thing I’m watching?” the official ruled the ball went off of Illinois.  With 36.9 seconds left, Miami’s Durand Scott shot two free throws essentially putting the game away for the ‘Canes.

Asked about the disputed call after the game, Kadji played dumb, “I don’t know who touched it last.  There were so many hands.”  Unfortunately for Kadji there were quite a few TV cameras as well.
