But who will be the mean one?
Fox announced the lineup of judges for American Idol’s upcoming 13th season, and it looks vaguely familiar.
Jennifer Lopez will be returning, as will Keith Urban. Harry Connick Jr. will be the newcomer of the group, though he has served as a mentor on past seasons. Exiting stage right-and left (since they fared so poorly sharing the screen last season)-are Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.
Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly announced the news today in a statement that talked up each of the judges in turn, as well as Randy Jackson, who will stay on as a mentor. His highest and somewhat creepy praise was reserved for returning host Ryan Seacrest: “the captain of our team-the heart and soul of Idol.”
Idol returns to Fox in January.
