Paul Giamatti’s Role of a Lifetime

He’s played a Founding Father, a wine-tasting writer, even a gangster. But on TV screens this January, Paul Giamatti will tackle his toughest role to date: playboy.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Giamatti will be joining the cast of Downton Abbey for its upcoming fourth season in the role of Harold Levinson, brother to Cora and uncle to Mary and Edith. And Harold has a saucy side.

Playing a suave bachelor will be a sure test of Giamatti’s heretofore-honed acting chops. Until then, we’ll hope that the makeup department at Abbey is brushing up on their skills.
