In a not-so-surprising announcement, Facebook announced today that Instagram is getting into moving pictures:

With video on Instagram, available today on iOS and Android, application users will find a movie camera icon that they can tap to enter video mode and take up to 15 seconds of video, clip by clip. The company also created 13 new filters just for the video offering, and members can choose a cover frame for display.

Hopefully, these filters will mean 15-second videos similar to Instagram pictures - meaning they will look like HD remasters of 1970s movies.

In preparation, Vine has been making overtures about its own future features.
