With 13 more days until WWE Payback at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL, the card is slowly beginning to be fleshed out, with the Main Event being WWE Champion John Cena and Ryback facing off for the WWE Championship in a Three Stages of Hell match. The three stages are as follows:
- Lumberjack Match, where the ring will be surrounded by WWE Superstars and if either Cena or Ryback escape to the outside, the lumberjacks will be there to toss them back in the ring, sometimes not before beating them to oblivion.
- Tables Match, where tables are legal and the only way a wrestler can win is if he drives his opponent through a table.
- Ambulance Match, where there will be an ambulance situated in the back of the ringside area and the only way to win is to have one wrestler beaten to a bloody pulp so all his opponent has to do is carry the fallen carcass to the ambulance, drop him in the back, and close the doors.
Another match already confirmed on the card is Chris Jericho challenging C.M. Punk (managed by Paul Heyman) to a match. Chicago is Punk’s hometown, and he has not been seen since the Monday after WrestleMania XXIX where he put up a valiant fight but lost to the undefeated Undertaker (21-0 at WrestleMania dating back to 1991) then walked away.
While the RAW card is not known by the fans until the show starts, there has been rumor that Dolph Ziggler, the World Heavyweight Champion, has returned to in-ring action over the weekend (h/t Wrestling World) after suffering a concussion when he was hit in the head with a ladder by Jack Swagger last month which in a sense sidelined him for WWE Extreme Rules. During the time Ziggler was on the sidelines, his bodyguard Big E. Langston had been focused more, potentially leading to a face turn and a match against Ziggler for the World Heavyweight Championship in the future.
Another interesting storyline revolves around the WWE Intercontinental Championship which is currently held by Wade Barrett. Over the past couple of weeks he has had The Miz going after the championship which he had won at WrestleMania XXIX but lost the following night on RAW. Barrett has also had an issue with Fandango ever since the two were in a tag team match against Miz and Jericho. During the match, Fandango left his corner and started dancing, which distracted Barrett and caused him to lose the match for them.
On WWE Smackdown Friday night (which was taped on Tuesday night), Daniel Bryan was like a one-man wrecking crew against The Shield when WWE Tag Team Champions Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins interfered in Randy Orton‘s match against United States Champion Dean Ambrose in a non-title match. How will The Shield react to Bryan basically obliterating them? Since Reigns and Rollins defeated Kane and Bryan in a rematch for the Tag Team Championship, who will rise up a formidable challenge to The Shield?
All those questions and more will be answered tonight on WWE Raw, and stay tuned to ViralRead tomorrow for a recap.
