Lenticular Printing Helps to Reach out to Children
The Anar Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of youth, has created a new poster using a printing technique called lenticular printing. This process makes it possible to for an image to change or move when viewed from a different angle. In other words, the lenticular advertisement allows the advertiser to show multiple images in one image.
In this case, adults viewing the advertisement from a certain height will see the message, “sometimes, child abuse is only visible to the child suffering it.” Children under 4’5”, however, will see a message targeted only for them, an image of an abused child and a hotline number that a child can call. Have a look below:
The technique goes back to the 1940s when it was used mainly in novelty items such as Cracker Jacks prizes. More recently however, lenticular printing has been used by the advertising world to show products in motion. In the coming years, look for advertisers to use this technique to pitch their products differently to children than to adults.
