Republican US Senate candidate, Gabriel Gomez, was one of the 26,839 people to run the Boston Marathon yesterday.
Gomez, the 47 year old private equity investor and former US Navy SEAL, said he signed up for the Boston Marathon prior to entering the special election to replace John Kerry as Senator of Massachusetts. His campaign live-tweeted his run, every mile of which he dedicated to a specific veteran. Below are a few of his tweets along the way:

Then he tweeted his finish time, which was posted at 2:24pm…

…a little over twenty minutes before the first bomb went off by the marathon’s finish line.
Gomez and his family are safe, and he tweeted shortly after the bomb went off:
Thoughts and prayers to all the runners, families and spectators at the Marathon today - keep safe and keep those hurt in your prayers.
