The mascot for the Bakersfield Condors, a live California condor, with the largest wingspan of any North American bird, made a run for it during the national anthem at a recent game between Bakersfield and the Las Vegas Wranglers. The Benny Hill-style comedy continued when the mascot’s handler tried to chase it out onto the ice. After a few slips and one full-on, bird-tossing wipe out, the condor took to the team’s bench sending the players scattering onto the ice. Eventually the mascot found its way into the clubhouse tunnel where he was caught.
