ViralRead Fantasy Football 2013 Draft-Kit, Mock is Cheap: Standard League (Late Pick)

Mock drafts.

One of the most underrated tools in any Fantasy Player’s tool chest. I talked about the nicety of these in my Draft Day Declarations column focused on beginners. But I know that most of you don’t have time or the will to do them, so, here I am to help.

Today’s mock draft is a standard serpentine 12 team non-PPR league draft, with a late pick.

It will be a 16 round draft. 1QB/2RB/3WR/1TE/1Flex/Def/PK/6bench

Standard scoring. 4pts passing TD/6pts Rushing/Receiving TD

Today I will be selecting 11th.

1.11 (11th Overall)- LeSean McCoy, RB, PHI

Am I surprised that LeSean McCoy is here? Yes and no. Average draft positions change. Towards the beginning of the summer, it is filled by fanatics and experts. So, certain players go higher. Including running backs. BUT as more “normal” players start having their drafts, ADPs change. So, am I surprised to see WRs creep up because the general populace wants them over RB? No. This is good news if you heed my advice on RBs first!

2.2 (14th Overall)- Maurice Jones Drew, RB, JAC

Difficult choice here between Chris Johnson and MJD. Both have amazing stupendous upside. Both have risk. MJD has less risk. AND if he hits his upside…I just hit a home run. Did I get off my Jimmy Graham kick? Yes. Yes I did. Why? Because having 21 picks until my next one, I need to lock up RBs now.

3.11 (35th Overall)- Vincent Jackson, WR, TBB

Top 10 WR available. Not bad for my WR1.

4.2 (38th Overall)- Randall Cobb, WR, GBP

Wanted a WR. I had an option of Cobb, Cruz, or Harvin. For what it’s worth, I think the order will be Cobb, Harvin, and Cruz. Did I flip a coin on Harvin or Cobb? Maybe.

5.11 (59th Overall)- A. Brown, WR, PIT

TE, QB, or WR? I think my TE want will be there for the 6th round and my QB of choice, Matt Stafford went #58. Got Brown.

6.2 (62nd Overall)- Danny Amendola, WR, NEP

So, the TE I risked, Vernon Davis? Went 61st. So, depth at WR I will build.

7.11 (83rd Overall)- Tony Romo, QB, DAL

Need a QB. I expect him to be a top ten QB potential candidate.

8.2 (86th Overall)- Jared Cook, TE, STL

Is this a sleeper pick? You bet.

9.11 (107th Overall)- Danny Woodhead, RB, SDC

Again, a sleeper pick and a bet against Ryan Matthews. Pretty good bet I think.

10.2 (110th Overall)- Daryl Richardson, RB, STL

I actually like this pick a lot. Isaiah Pead is suspended for the first STL game. Zac Stacy won’t be ready. Daryl Richardson will get his moment to shine. I think he takes advantage.

11.11 (131st Overall)- Brian Hartline, WR, MIA

If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times. Hartline=Welker in the Miami offense. A steal at 131.

12.2 (134th Overall)- Sam Bradford, QB, STL

Great backup and if all his weapons start firing…he just may be a great trade piece.

13.11 (155th Overall)- Heath Miller, TE, PIT

Backup TE. I don’t expect much. Even in a season where Big Ben said he would try and make Miller a pro-bowler, it wasn’t the best.

14.2 (158th Overall)- Andre Roberts, WR, ARI

Last skill position slot. Why not a flier on Carson Palmer? Hey you, the one snickering in the back, cut it out.

15.11 (179th Overall)- Blair Walsh, PK, MIN

Why? Dome. And having Akers on every team is just bad karma…

16.2 (182nd Overall)- Indianapolis Colts, TD

Same strategy.

My Team

2QB, 4RB, 6WR, 2TE, 1PK/TD

My starters are  Tony Romo, LeSean McCoy, MJD, Vincent Jackson, Randall Cobb, Antonio Brown, Jared Cook, Danny Amendola as my flex.

How I think I did?

A-.

I am really happy about this team. My suspicions on Jimmy Graham were played out. Will Jared Cook lose out to who has Jimmy Graham? Yes. But will Mccoy/MJD beat his Ray Rice/B. Green-Ellis combo? Yes.

This is definitely a playoff team. And as we say…make the playoffs and anything can happen.
