Back in 2010, an Apple engineer accidentally left a then unreleased iPhone 4 on a stool in a Redwood City, California bar.
So, it comes as no surprise that rumored images of an iPhone 5S have been leaked.
Images of the supposed inside and rear shell of what could be Apple’s follow up to the successful iPhone 5, show the phone to have an updated A7 processor.
The new images come shortly after another leak last week, which showed a larger capacity battery (about time, Apple), and a new dual-LED flash for the rear camera with two different colored LED bulbs. This could suggest that Apple’s new iPhone may include a flash that projects different colored light depending on the surrounding lighting.
The chip in the photo, published by MacRumors, has a model number of APL0698. Model numbers for the A6 and A6X processors were APL0598 and APL5598, and A5 and its predecessors carried model numbers similar to APLx4xx. Apple has a history of varying the first digit of the model number for members of a given A-series family and increments the second digit when transitioning to a new family.
Looks like Apple is taking a step towards fully designing its own chip from the ground up, not just customizing an existing chip to meet their needs.
