Three term mayor Ed Koch planned almost every detail of his own funeral and burial before the day he died.  Writing his own eulogy, making his own tombstone, and even visiting his grave site, the only things he didn’t do was carve his birth and death dates.

Perhaps the error of a dyslexic employee or someone trying to shave a few years off the mayors age, the tombstone read: December 12, 1942, when he was actually born December 12, 1924. Needless to say the family and some in the community weren’t too happy.
