Know what makes Major League Baseball on a perfect Spring evening even better? Heavy. Freaking. Metal. (Insert rock god, banshee-like wail here and get those devil-horn fingers in the air!) Players for the San Francisco Giants may have already made it to the big show, but last night they officially made it to the big time: Metallica was their opening act.
Bay Area natives and certified Metal royalty, James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, took to the field to bust out a shred-fest, two guitar version of the Star-Spangled Banner on “Metallica Night” at AT&T Park. Epicness ensued:
And the Sandman must’ve entered the Los Angeles Dodgers dugout as they could only manage to generate one run on 11 hits, losing to the Giants 2-1.
And nothing else matters…
Note to Roseanne Barr: This is what “metal” should sound like when applied to our National Anthem — not the sound of severely worn disc brakes being engaged at 90 mph.
