As one of the best hitting catchers of all time and one of the toughest players of his era playing one of the toughest positions in baseball — it’s not really a stretch to think of Piazza as a gangster. However the prancing Sharks vs Jets are not the first image that comes to mind.
Former Major League Baseball catcher Mike Piazza is ready for his cameo with Miami City Ballet.
Piazza will play the role of a gangster in the ballet’s Friday night performance of “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue.”
It’s not a dancing role, and Piazza’s not wearing tights. He’ll walk onstage in a taupe houndstooth suit and say a few lines as a hit man hired to kill a jealous dancer’s rival.
Piazza’s daughter is a student at the Miami City Ballet School. No word on the level of parental embarrassment Mike’s performance will elicit.
