Aw wicked pissah! You chowdah-heads let the streak go bust ya buncha skiddah’s ya!
Red Sox Nation watched as their beloved sold-out home streak came to an end last night at 820 consecutive games. Fenway’s capacity is 37,493; Wednesday’s game against the Orioles may have re-christened fans the Fenway Semi-Faithful at a depleted 30,862 backsides in seats. In the past, Boston has been accused of massaging their attendance numbers en route to the record mark - hazily re-defining the definition of “sold-out” to justify swaths of empty seats last season.
Boston fans may not be able take comfort any longer in knowing that Fenway will always sell out, but they can rest-assured that John Henry, Larry Lucchino and Tom Werner will continue to sell-out on a regular basis.
