In a historic and unprecedented moment for The Roman Catholic Church, newly minted/crowned/sashed Pope Francis I met with Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI today.

Flown to Benedict’s new residence at Castel Gandalfo in Helm’s Deep… er, Rome, the Two Popes met to pray, discuss the state of the church and have lunch together.

Vatican spokesman Rev. Federico Lombardi described the first meeting of two popes as “warm and cordial” and “a moment of profound and elevated communion”.

No word at the moment on which Holy Father said grace before the meal.
