The unpopular, controversial and often buffoonish, cartoon example of the “elite media,” Piers Morgan, irreverently tweeted his skepticism over the news that Pope Benedict XVI was resigning as a result of his body breaking down in his old age (because no 85-year-old man has ever been too broken physically to continue working and traveling around the world.)
Of course in true Morgan style, he laughingly spoke “as a Catholic,” as if he had ever let his Catholicism shape an opinion.
As a Catholic, I’m not buying this. Popes don’t just quit because they’re tired. What’s going on here??

He also compared the Pope to the Queen, of course, because everything in the mother country is always better than everything else.
The Queen’s a year older than The Pope. Can’t see her ever resigning because she’s tired. #indefatigability1infallibility0
