The so-called “border surge” amendment, whose numerous problems both ViralRead and other sites have chronicled, has passed today by a vote of 69-29.
Fifteen Republicans voted “aye,” and two Republicans did not vote.
This paves the way for a vote on the full Gang of Eight bill on Thursday, so the Senate can recess for the Fourth of July on time. I wonder if any of the Republicans that support this will have town hall meetings during the recess, to explain to their constituents in person why they voted for it.
