Miami Gets Embarrassed in San Antonio

Lebron James and his all-star band were sheepishly silenced Tuesday night, as the San Antonio Spurs absolutely pummeled the Miami Heat 113-77.

Tim Duncan once again fearlessly led the Spurs, but the victory was due in large part to a couple of unlikely heroes. Danny Green and Gary Neal combined for 51 points, sinking seven and six 3-pointers, respectively. Not bad for a couple of role players going against the mighty Heat. From Espn.com:

“Those guys shot incredibly,” Duncan said. “Gave us the breathing room when we needed it.”

The Spurs victory was impressive, especially since it was in response to their own pummeling by Miami Sunday night; a game in which the Heat beat the Spurs 103-84. “It shouldn’t be a surprise,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “These are the last two teams standing. I don’t think either one of them is going to get down if they have a bad night.”

Though Lebron James would try to save his team from embarrassment, his efforts were quelled by the great defense of Kawhi Leornard. James ended with a very un-James-like 15 points.

With the victory, San Antonio gains a 2-1 series edge. Game three is Thursday night in San Antonio, where the Heat are 3-22 in the regular season and now 0-1 in the post season.

“0-1” stands for “zero wins, one devastating beat-down”.
