PHOTO: Chinese ‘People’s Daily’ Newspaper Unveils New Phallic Headquarters

Talk about overcompensating: the Chinese People’s Daily newspaper (owned and operated by the state, of course) is having work done on its new Beijing headquarters. Due to the design of the building, Chinese censors are in overload as people all across China search - typing perhaps with only one hand - for photos relevant to the new, 500-foot-tall building:

According to The Commentator:

Web searches in China are even reportedly being filtered for “People’s Daily” and “building” in the message. A warning message apparently now reads, “In accordance with relevant laws, regulations and policies, search results cannot be displayed.”

Damn. If big buildings are what the Chinese are craving to search up on Baidu, though, maybe they should instead look up the Burj Khalifa. Or, at the very least, the Shanghai World Finance Center:

Granted, it’s a little angular, but…it’s also got a kinky design - not rounded at the edges like the People’s Daily building.
