Today we’ve put together a list of the top defensive back prospects in the 2013 NFL draft. Speed is the name of the game for defensive backs. In fact, as a measurable, speed is most important to this position than any other:

1. Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama

With all this talent from Alabama littering our top 10s, you would think they were good last year or something. Bottom line, Coach Saban knows defense, but even he can’t coach instinct. And Milliner has pure instinct in spades. This drove him to a first team All American spot.

2. Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas

Many would have the CB from Florida State in this spot. But when scouting reports list his coverage skills as a weakness…number two is not where he should be. Kenny Vaccaro on the other hand does not have such issues.

3. Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State

As I alluded to earlier, coverage is his weakness. And while he has been working on it, that is enough to give him the number three spot but not push him any higher.

4. Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

Good cover skills but only moderate ball skills and run defense. Still a great option at CB.

5. Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State

6. Eric Reid, S, LSU

7. Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State

8. Dwayne Gratz, CB, Connecticut

9. D.J. Hayden, CB, Houston

10. John Cyprien, S, Florida International
