Parents of Newtown Victim Meet With Father of Shooter

Alissa and Robbie Parker recently met with the father of the Newtown shooter, Peter Lanza. The Parker’s lost their 6 year old daughter, Emilie on that tragic day.

A report from the New York Times said Alissa and Robbie did not blame Peter for his son’s actions. Instead the three parents shared their condolences with one another in an extremely emotional meeting that lasted for over an hour. After the meeting, Mrs. Parker spoke to a CBS reporter -

I don’t feel like he should be held responsible for what happened that day…That was not ultimately his decision to do that, so how can I hold him responsible? Were there missteps in the raising of his son? Possibly.

Mrs. Parker was also quoted as saying she believed Nancy Lanza (mother of shooter) did share some of the blame as the rifle that Adam Lanza used did belong to her.

Mr. Parker explained being angry will not undo what took place on that tragic day, he continued -

So the idea of wasting any energy on anger towards somebody or trying to point blame at anybody seems like a waste of time and energy that we can use to be better parents to our girls.

The Parkers have two other daughters, ages 3 and 5.
