Guess Who’s Gonna Kiss and Make Up?

For the first time in over thirty years an Iranian head of state has visited Cairo to re-kindle a consanguinity between the two countries.

Egypt announced Tuesday that it had financially fallen below its ability to cover three months’ imports in its foreign reserves. Egyptian president, Muhammad Morsi, received Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, amid much fanfare, and the Iranian leader came bearing promises of a sizable loan and a plea to recognize their common concerns.

“There are those striving to prevent these two great countries from coming together despite the fact that the region’s problems require this meeting, especially the Palestinian question,” Ahmadinejad said in a speech during a two-day summit of Islamic nations.

My how times have changed. Here are two nations who have absolutely hated each other since 1979. Now, we’ve managed to sit back and watch 30 years of peace between the U.S. and Egypt dissolve into a burgeoning kinship between the incredibly dangerous and nuclear-capable Iran and an Egypt now under the thumb of the Islamic Fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood.

Throw in the MB in Libya, a pinch of Russia, China and the newly nuked-up Iran backing every move Syria makes, and suddenly Israel looks pretty far up the Nile without a Staff of Ra.
