WaPo: Escort Says Menendez Claims Were Made Up (Daily Caller Says Wrong Escort)

The Washington Post yesterday, reported that the escort who appeared on tape accusing Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) of paying her for sex, has recanted.
The escort, Nexis de los Santos Santana, 23, said in an affidavit she was hired by lawyer Miguel Galvan to do a taped interview with journalists in mid-October. Galvan explained to her that a false account was needed for a divorce case. De los Santos said she was surreptitiously taped implicating Menendez, Melgen and prominent Dominican lawyer Vinicio Castillo Selmán, Melgen’s cousin, in hiring prostitutes.
“Those are my words and that is me, but it does not reflect the truth,” de los Santos said in her affidavit.

Menendez Claims Accusations Stem From Right Wing Racists

At a gathering at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ, U.S. Senator Robert Menendez claimed that right wingers were hurling false accusations because of his Hispanic heritage.
“I have felt the sting of discrimination. Now we face anonymous, faceless, nameless individuals from right-wing sources seeking to destroy a lifetime of work. And their scares are false. I have worked too hard and too long in the vineyards to allow, at my hands, for the harvest to be soured.”
As part of Black History month, the Senator attended a gathering at the Trenton Church and cited words from Martin Luther King, Jr.

CREW Adds Sen. Menendez to "Under Investigation" List

The Daily Caller is reporting that late yesterday, Citizens for Responsibility & Ethics in Washington (CREW) added the embattled Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) to its list of “Under Investigation”.

CREW notes that the Senator is under investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee for “accepting gifts from a donor who flew him to the Dominican Republic on a private jet.” Absent from the report is any reference to a federal investigation into Senator Menendez’s alleged activities with underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic.
