35 Atlanta Public Schools Officials Indicted in Largest Cheating Scandal in US History

Once touted as a model program for inner city public education, Georgia school district officials are now facing charges of racketeering and corruption. After concluding a full investigation into the standardized test scores of the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) system, officials determined that cheating was taking place in a majority of APS’s 83 elementary and middle schools.

Representative Phil Gingrey (R-Marietta) joined his House colleague Rep. Paul Broun (R-Athens) Wednesday in Georgia’s U.S. Senate race to fill the senior spot currently held by Sen. Saxby Chambliss. This announcement comes as no surprise considering Gingrey is the senior Republican congressman in the Georgia delegation and is now at the ripe age of 70. His formal announcement is scheduled this afternoon at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

#CPAC2013: 10 Conservatives Under 40

“Young conservatives in this country are ready to take the reigns.”

Georgia State Representative Michael Caldwell was on CPAC’s “10 Conservatives Under 40″ panel at this year’s gathering.  The quote above echoes what most of the participants shared throughout the panel:  Young conservatives are eager to jump in and make a huge impact on the party and its outreaches.

Newly-elected Georgia Legislator Michael Caldwell to Address CPAC

Michael Caldwell is a sales representative and partial owner of Python Safety, a Kennesaw State University alumni, a loving husband, a state house representative, and a 20-something?

That’s right, millennials, we have a 1989-er addressing the world’s largest gathering of right-leaning political activists this year. And to the best of our researching ability, we have discovered Caldwell to be the youngest currently-serving state legislator in the United States. Representative Caldwell was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2012 after a successful primary against the eight-year incumbent. Caldwell first ran for the office in 2010 at age 20. Caldwell’s success stems from a widely-discussed but rarely seen approach to governing: ethics and transparency.

Rep Tom Price to Attend #BlogBash 2013

Blog Bash, a networking event created in 2010 ‘for political bloggers by political bloggers’, will welcome Georgia Representative Tom Price (R-Roswell) as a VIP guest at the third annual event, which will be held on March 14, 2013 during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) at National Harbor, Md. Representative Price has made some serious waves in the Georgia political world in recent weeks as speculation continues to mount in anticipation of a potential US Senate run to replace Georgia’s senior Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Thomasville).
“I look forward to attending Blog Bash at CPAC this year to honor the very important work of members of the National Bloggers Club and enjoy the company of fellow patriots,” said Congressman Tom Price. “Now, more than ever, we must foster a conservative movement unified by our common vision to restore America to its constitutional parameters of limited government and individual freedom. Bloggers are on the front lines defending these conservative principles each and every day, and I am especially grateful for their contributions to our shared cause.”

Georgia Legislator Seeks to Make Photoshopping Heads Illegal

One of the more bizarre stories buzzing around the South is over a battle being waged in the Georgia State legislature. Georgia Representative Pam Dickerson (D-Conyers) has introduced legislation that would make photoshopping someone’s head onto another person’s body a misdemeanor, punishable with a fine of up to $1,000.

Sources close to Georgia Congressman Tom Price (R-Marrietta) say that he will delay making a formal announcement on whether or not he intends to take a show at replacing outgoing United States Senator Saxby Chambliss. The timeframe for a public announcement of the decision could be somewhere from 45 to 90 days from now the source tells Viral Read. Those intimately familiar with Congressman Price and the current weight of his decision to enter the Senate race say that Price is very inclined to run, but wants to take his time.
It is unclear whether or not Congressman Paul Broun’s announcement this afternoon will speed up Price’s public decision.

Breaking: Paul Broun Announces Official Candidacy for US Senate

Following last week’s informal announcement, Georgia Congressman Paul Broun (R-Athens) will make his formal declaration to seek outgoing Senator Saxby Chambliss’ seat at 4 PM EST at Hilton Atlanta. Last Tuesday, ViralRead.com exclusively reported that the wife of Georgia Rep. Paul Broun, Niki, had given her blessing to her husband to seek the seat of retiring Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss in 2014. The announcement puts one of the nation’s most controversial Republican congressmen back in the spotlight.

Exclusive: Rep. Paul Broun Announces Candidacy for US Senate, Steals Karen Handel's Thunder

Former Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Karen Handel and Congressman Paul Broun in a playful exchange following his impromptu announcement for US Senate

Tonight was a night of surprises for anyone who attended the Georgia C.H.A.R.G.E (Citizens Helping America Restore Government Ethics) meeting in Gwinnett county. Luckily, ViralRead was on the scene with a front row seat to all the fireworks. The surprise, however, didn’t come from the keynote speaker, former Secretary of State and 2010 gubernatorial candidate Karen Handel. Moments before the meeting was underway Congressman Paul Broun (R-Athens) shocked the crowd as he walked into the room with his wife, Niki Broun, and a top-level staffer.
