Robin Williams – is there anything he does that isn’t funny?

But when that “anything” includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, James Wolk, Kelly Clarkson and – according to actor Hamish Linklater – the funniest dolly grip ever, the entire formula begins to go nuclear.

CBS’s new show, The Crazy Ones, stars Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar as a father-daughter team of advertising executives in Chicago.  James Wolk rounds out the lead actors playing an ad agent (a stretch I’m sure after years on Mad Men).  CBS’s behind the scenes preview video gives a little taste of what’s to come on the new series.

This will be Williams’ first leading-man role in episodic TV since Mork and Mindy.

The show, set in 2048, stars Karl Urban and Michael Ealy as an LA cop and his android partner. Urban’s cop, John Kennex, is returning to duty after a two year coma and the loss of his leg and is notorious for his dislike for robots. Ealy’s character, Dorian, is an old model android who is programmed to have emotions, separating himself from his more robotic counterparts.

‘Almost Human’ should do well for FOX in their relatively manly schedule of new fall shows. Their comedies include Dads, a live-action Seth MacFarlane show that might not appeal to a lot of people, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a cop comedy staring Andy Samberg that shows goofy promise.

In crazy criminal news: Gary Cole, currently serving  25 years in a Colorado prison, is suing Taco Bell,  its parent company Yum Brands, Pepsi and Frito Lay for taking his brilliant idea for the fast food chain’s popular Doritos Locos Taco:

[Cole] said the company stole his idea through the mail when he sent his attorney several product ideas — one being a taco made from Doritos.

Okay. Like it’s a huge stretch to pair the tastiness of tacos with America’s fave munchie snack…

ABC News received a statement from a Taco Bell representative calling Cole’s lawsuit “completely without merit.”

And the NY Jets carnival sideshow continues. Just when you think the Jets couldn’t possibly fit another helping of controversy onto their plates, News 12 New Jersey is reporting that Mike Goodson, who the Jets recently signed to a 3 year, $6.9 million contract, has been arrested on illegal gun and drug possession charges.

Goodson and companion Garant Evans, who was in the driver’s seat, were found stopped in the middle of Interstate 80 in Denville, NJ. They were discovered by a tow-truck driver who called police, concerned about Goodson’s condition. Police arrived, and both men were arrested when they were found in possession of marijuana and a .45 semi-automatic hand gun loaded with hollow point bullets. Goodson was freed on $50,000 bail while Evans remains in jail facing a DWI charge in addition to the weapons and drug charges.

Goodson has spent his career to date as a back up in Carolina and Oakland, but is considered to be a speedy, versatile back who has a real shot at the starting job in New York, according to ESPN’s AFC East Blogger, James Walker:

Flashback to April 2012: Facebook buys Instagram for $1 Billion. Why? Among the many reasons, because Instagram was growing fast and Facebook didn’t want a competitor to snap it up first. And because it could.

With Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram have come a few changes. You probably noticed that when you try to share your photos to Twitter from Instagram, it just shows up as a link without a preview of the photo? From this… to this? This was a deliberate decision made by Instagram in order to drive more traffic to the web version of the platform.

To many from outside the two companies though, it seemed like a deliberate snub to the 140-character-based platform. Quite a few people have labeled it as a war between Instagram and Twitter. In response, Twitter has since introduced a few photo editing features to its photo sharing option (including adding filters and cropping the image to a square… sound familiar at all?).

What’s new? Since removing cards from Twitter, the Facebookization of Instagram has continued. Now users can have tagged photos of themselves on Instagram, much in the same way that it works on Facebook.

These tagged photos will now show up in a section of your Instagram profile (see below).

Don’t want a photo to show up on your profile? No problem! In much the same way that you can accept or remove tagged photos of yourself from Facebook, Instagram is allowing that option as well.

Kind of a bummer: photos that your friends tagged previously of you won’t show up on your profile unless you go back through them and tag them in this new way. We’ll be curious to see whether or not they incorporate that later…

“Please explain how all of your activities, including the prayer meetings held outside of Planned Parenthood, are considered educational as defined under 501(c)(3),” wrote the IRS in a letter to the CLI. “Please explain in detail the activities at these prayer meetings. Also, please provide the percentage of time your organization spends on prayer groups as compared with the other activities of the organization.”

When Representative Aaron Schock (R-IL) asked IRS acting commissioner Steven Miller if the “content of one’s prayers” was an appropriate inquiry for the IRS to make of a 501(c)(3) applicant, Miller replied, “It pains me to say I can’t speak to that one either…speaking outside of this case which I don’t know anything about, it would surprise me that that question was asked.”

The Christian organization thinks that the IRS “repeatedly sought information that is unnecessary and in violation of constitutional principles affecting the Coalition’s supporters.”

In an interview during the broadcast of the Atlanta Braves vs the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game, former President Jimmy Carter pulled… well, a ‘Jimmy Carter’ by saying that the Academy Award Winning film Argo gave “too much credit to the CIA when the Canadians did almost all the work.”

Carter said he saw the movie because he was going to Canada to get an honorary PhD, and was going to be meeting with the “heroes from Canada.” He said the Canadian Foreign Minister and Ambassador of Canada arranged to get Americans six fake passports, “which is not very easy.”

Argo won the Academy Award for Best Picture this year, and told the story of the CIA arranging a ruse to rescue six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran during the the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. The six diplomats had escaped the initial siege of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and had been hiding out at the home of the Canadian Ambassador. The CIA used Canadian passports and pretend that the diplomats were a part of a Canadian film crew, and two CIA agents covertly led them out of the country, risking their own lives and the lives of the six diplomats.

President Carter is a Georgia resident and big Braves fan. Perhaps he should stick to watching the game.

This wasn’t the first time the former president spoke about how much credit he thought the Americans stole from the Canadians. He spoke about it at length the night of the Oscars in a San Francisco speech.

The terrorist attack last fall, which the CIA has attributed to an al-Qaeda-linked group, killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three  other Americans. Obama administration officials initially claimed the attack was a spontaneous “demonstration” in reaction to a YouTube video.
